Trumpeter
Amy Horvey is well known both in her native Canada and
abroad. She
regularly performs with the National Arts Centre and
Montreal
Symphony Orchestras, and has appeared at many major
festivals
including the Montreal Baroque Festival, Festival of
New Trumpet
(FONT) Music in New York, Lucerne Festival Academy,
Ottawa Chamber
Music Festival, and the 2010 Vancouver Cultural
Olympiad. In 2010,
she appeared as a Yamaha Artist at the International
Women's Brass
Conference.
Amy has toured Canada and Italy with programs of
new music for trumpet, and appeared as a soloist with
the National
Arts Centre Orchestra. As a Baroque trumpeter, Amy
works with several
of Canada's leading early music ensembles, including
Ensemble Caprice
and the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal.
She has released three albums to widespread critical
acclaim:
Interview
(2009),
Catchment
(2010), and Mille
Bayous
(2011).
Strongly committed to research and education, she has
taught at many educational institutions including
Lakehead University
and McGill University's Schulich School of Music, and
currently
teaches at Concordia University in Montreal. She holds
a doctorate in
Trumpet Performance from McGill University.
